At Sue’s bread making school, there was a lot of emphasis on gluten free recipes. The Kitchen Shoppe now has gluten free bread and pizza dough mix. We also have a great recipe book that covers all aspects of gluten free cooking.

Sharon’s Country Store is located behind Subway (near Java Junction on Hwy 2). Their bakery prepares absolutely great scones and other baked goods. They also stock a wide variety of bulk foods that are very reasonably priced. I have been working with them to add the grains and products that we use in our breadmaking classes and items for gluten free baking. They are planning to add soups in the future. If you enjoyed seeing Julie & Julia, why don’t you plan to try out one of her recipes and bring it to share at a Julia potluck at the Kitchen Shoppe? I plan to try her Beef Bourguignon Recipe. If you are interested in participating, please RSVP by email or call 447-4600. If we have more than 10, I will arrange for a larger location. (Note: If you need the French style pans she used, the shop carries the Mario Batalli enamel covered cast iron pans that are comparable in quality to Le Creuset but more reasonably priced.)

Tuesday, October 20: A MASTER DOUGH FOR ALL SEASONS

Ken will show you how use a master dough to create dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls and Danish pastries in a variety of unique shapes. He will show you a number of relatively easy tricks that will make you look like a pastry chef.

Nothing warms better on a cold day than a good soup. Joan and her husband Charlie used to run a B&B in Alaska where she perfected several exceptional recipes. These include chicken with matzo balls, fish, and cream of potato hot soups plus pea and fruit cold soups.
